One Day Seminar On Public Awareness Program related to Nuclear Energy For 2nd & 3rd Year Electrical and 1st Year Mechanical Engineering Students (10th August, 2018)

Venue: Central Seminar Hall (Room No. 101), SSASIT Campus, Surat

The aim of this seminar is “Awareness Program related to Nuclear Energy and Radiation” is awareness about nuclear energy to the students and it also helpful to recognize students’ level of knowledge. This seminar was held in 101 – Central Seminar Hall at SSASIT Campus, Surat on 10th August, 2018 and total 200 number of students taken part in this seminar.

The program was started with the introduction and felicitation guests, Shri M. M. Pandya, Senior Technical Engineer, Technical Unit, NPCIL, KAPS Gujarat Site and Shri Jaison T. John, Scientific Officer, Environmental Survey Laboratory, Health Physics Divison, Bhabha Atomic Research Centre.

Shri M. M. Pandya gave a detailed lecturer on Nuclear Energy. He conducted the topics like, Global Energy Scenario at present and its Need for Nuclear Power, Process of generation of Nuclear Energy, India’s Nuclear Power Program, Safety in Nuclear Power Generation, Radiation: Myths and Facts, Nuclear Waste Management.

Shri Jaison T. John gave a detailed lecturer on “Natural Radiation & Environmental Surveillance Activities around Kakrapar Gujarat Site” and “Department of Atomic Energy (DAE)-Societal Benefits”

It was an informative, interesting and a successful seminar. As students of Electrical Engineering, we learned about working of nuclear power plant and different types of electrical equipment which used in nuclear power station. They explained about myths about nuclear plants, its pros & cons, nuclear waste management. They also explained about safety related issues in nuclear plant and how they use nuclear waste for different purpose.

We all are thankful to experts who guided students with each and every question with detailed answers. We all, members of Electrical Engineering Department, SSASIT, are thankful to each and every member involved in arranging such a tremendously conversant and wonderful seminar for the welfare of students. We are heartily thankful to Mr. Divyesh R. Lakhani, Lab Assistant, EED without him it not possible to conduct such a pleasing seminar and who helped us to complete outside work related to seminar. At last, a vote of thanks was proposed by Prof. M. K. Mangukiya, Assistant Professor, EED, SSASIT.
